Philip Cox is an Australian architect and artist whose painting practice is shaped by sustained observation of the New South Wales south coast. Rather than depicting the landscape literally, Cox builds layered compositions that evoke atmosphere, movement and ecological balance.

Positioned between abstraction and landscape, his paintings convey the emotive presence of Country through restraint, structure and immersion in the natural environment. This sensibility mirrors his architectural practice, where the integration of art, sculpture and landscape is a defining principle. Across both disciplines, Cox draws on the vastness of the Australian interior and the diverse character of its landscapes.
