BCEC marks major milestone

Bob O'Keeffe cuts the Centre's 25th birthday cake, other staff in background

Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) has quietly achieved a key milestone, celebrating 25 years of delivering major events to Brisbane and Queensland.

Although currently closed to the public due to COVID-related government directives, the Centre was able to mark the occasion with a birthday cake, enjoyed by a small team of essential business and service staff, on-site preparing for the centre’s re-opening.

The Centre is proud of its impressive record of 25 years of continued successful operation, hosting some 22,000 events and welcoming 18.5 million visitors during that time.

A major contributor to the economic fabric of Queensland, responsible for more than 70% of delegate days to Brisbane each year, the Centre’s Business Events portfolio has wide and enduring benefits associated with knowledge wealth, employment and industry growth and development.

BCEC would like to acknowledge this significant milestone and thank staff both past and present who have contributed to the Centre’s ongoing success as one of Australia’s most innovative and awarded meetings and events venues.

Most importantly, we wish to thank our many loyal clients who have entrusted us to deliver their events. BCEC prides itself on a client focussed and collaborative approach to planning and delivering world class experiences.

To all of our visitors over the past quarter of a century and the community, we thank you for your support and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Centre in the near future.
