Andrew Arnaoutopoulos is an abstract painter living and working in Brisbane. His practice explores surface, process and material memory through restrained colour and weathered textures. Influenced by European modernism, his works balance chance and control, foregrounding intuitive responses to painting’s residual traces.

Arnaoutopoulos’s industrial surface still life paintings draw on the visual language of weathered industrial materials. Scratched, stained and layered surfaces recall factory floors, packaging debris, metal sheeting and urban residue. Through restrained colour and repetition, these works transform incidental marks into quiet abstractions, where subtle yet evocative shapes emerge and escape into the materiality of the work’s surface.
