“I stand on the shoulders of my past and present historical pioneers and Elders who have shaped my leadership to become the leader I am today. I draw my strength from the great leaders of the Wakka Wakka, Wangan and Koa Tribes.
In the March 2024 Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council election, I was appointed Mayor and accepted with pride the responsibility of leading strategic advocacy for a community of 1600 people. My prior and current studies and roles equip me for this challenge.
I am a strong advocate to create pathways in the entrepreneurial and innovative sectors and small business initiatives for my people, community and especially young people. For these reasons, I enjoy my additional responsibilities as Director of the Cherbourg Barambah Local Justice Group, and Director of Powerlink Energy Company for Queensland.
My enthusiastic participation in this project was to showcase my leadership achievements through the lens of art. This image is symbolic of my first dream of becoming a concert pianist. At that time, Aboriginal people were not associated within the hierarchy of classical art, and this undiscovered identity is represented by the large spotlight adjacent to me.
Today my hobbies include spending time with my daughters and grandson. I still have a keen interest in music, singing and playing the piano and am also a very late comer of being a dog whisperer.”
