Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on Grey Street – in high demand Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC), Australia’s most awarded convention centre, officially ranked among the top three convention centres world-wide, is expanding to create integrated facilities for meetings from 200 to 8000. As activity levels on the boutique development site peak, there has been strong demand for bookings with 27 confirmed conventions including 13 international meetings with a further 33 bookings awaiting confirmation.
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) on Grey Street is specifically designed for smaller and medium sized meetings of up to 600 delegates and the niche nature of the development is proving a popular proposition for meeting planners. The new facilities of BCEC on Grey Street offer the most cost effective solution for international associations providing outstanding value. With an additional 18 meeting rooms including two tiered auditoria and 52% increase in convention space, the expanded facilities will establish the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre as Australia’s most flexible convention venue offering more choice than ever before. With its iconic contemporary design, the new BCEC on Grey Street will change the architectural landscape of South Bank, adding to its vibrancy and enhancing its reputation as a world class urban lifestyle and cultural precinct. The 24,000 square metre development will have a main entry level onto what is Brisbane’s newest restaurant and retail hub, the tree lined Grey Street in the South Bank precinct located in downtown Brisbane. Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre General Manager Mr Robert O’Keeffe said the unique feature of the expanded centre is the unprecedented flexibility offering more choice of facilities and higher levels of service for meetings of up to 600 as well as being able to accommodate larger events of up to 8000. “Brisbane’s emerging reputation as a world science hub and destination of choice as Australia’s new world city is gathering force and with the added drawcard of Australia’s newest and most flexible meetings venue, is a powerful proposition as demonstrated by the early bookings and high levels of interest” Mr O’Keeffe said.
